You close your eyes for only a second and then BAM! Its four weeks since you’ve been to the gym! Uh Oh.

So yes, I need to get back onto that. And I will. Possibly tonight. Possibly tomorrow when Im not feeling so yuk.

Today I wanted to draw attention towards two stories that have been circulating the internet for some time now which I have only just come accross. ‘The Dionaea House’ and ‘Ted’s Caving Page’. They are both written as epistolary novels and are both great horror hyperfiction. I won’t write much about the plot of the stories, I wished only to bring light to them.

My favourite really is The Dionaea House. It is presented over four different sites which you link to after continued reading. Presented in the form of a blog by the author reaching out to anyone with information when first established it was never stated whether the story was that of fact or fiction. Which really is what makes it such an intruiging and addictive read.

Ted’s Caving Page is presented on one sight by a caver named Ted as an online journal about his experiences in a cave near his home town. It has pictures and although quite a bit shorter than Dionaea is still a great read. Without saying to much about the plot it draws comparisons to the movie ‘The Descent’ (2005) and for the record Ted’s Caving Page (2001) came first!

Its a series of photos taken by a group of people who broke into an abandoned underground missle complex. They take you on a virtual tour of the site.. after they explain that what they did was VERY illegal. All the same, would make an intruiging story.

To wrap up.. 2 weeks till the burlesque festival, act is slowly taking shape again. Need to get in front of those mirrors and stop worrying so much. Songwriting is not happening at the moment. But will be… once my burlesque act is superb.

Its May. It has been a well long time since I have posted anything here, but I miss it. I miss writing and using it to work things out so over the next few days I will be posting about the happenings of the last 5 months and what I have been up to, as well as what I have planned for the future. Five months. Now that is scary, mostly because its nearly six and that means I’m halfway through this year and I still have a sense of having not done alot.

One thing I have been thinking a lot of lately is how our culture feels the absolute need to always brand and place each other in a catagory. By that I mean it seems so many people (myself included) are so focused on finding something to define themselves by or with that the lose sight of the smaller picture and miss simply ‘being’ in every moment of the day. I have felt this year go so fast already that I am really trying each day to live every minute and accomplish even something ridicuosly small each day.

I have changed a great deal since starting this blog, I’m not sure how but I know I have. So much so that I feel its necessary to re-introduce myself.

My name is Jessie. I like cups of tea just before I go to sleep. I wish I could wear red lipstick everyday. I like things to be neat. When stressed I like to stick rhinestones on things. Or watch doctor who. I am constantly torn between my love for musicals and my drive to create something truly unique and memorable with my performance. I like honesty. I get grumpy when people don’t move over to the window seat on the tram. Most people puzzle me. I talk crazy like when I get nervous.

My friend Nick and his blog about 52 things he wants to have accomplished has inspired me to write my own list.

As I sit here at the computer Im thinking about things I would like to have accomplished and experienced by this time next year. I think it works well as it is my birthday in two days, so this is my list of things i want to accomplish by the time I turn 21 next year on September 3.

I have decided to start a new blog about this, but i will post on this one also about my experiences!

Im having surgery in a couple of weeks on my foot and will be moving back to Geelong with my mum for about three weeks while i recover. I get bored very easy so have been brainstorming (sadly without butchers paper) things that i can do while im stuck on the couch. This is what i have so far.

Write music.

Do some recording.

Get my website running.

Make some scarves.

Sew three dresses.

Write a massive letter on my typewriter to my friend Jaz who is in England.

Play Resident Evil 5 and FEAR 2 on the XBOX.

Attempt not to get fat

Im going to make a list, and tick things off

Can i do it all in three weeks?

Sometimes it feels like i am really starting to get somewhere and then the next day i wake up and it feels like i’ve taken a massive step in the wrong direction. It isn’t any secret that i am not a fan of this year really, I feel like i have acomplished very little and have not achieved anything that i set out to do as of yet. One development is with the bone disorder in my foot however. I am having an operation on the 7th of September to try and fix the way i walk a little to help reduce and the pain and stress that i have on my joints in my foot. It will be a long recovery time with me having my leg in a cast for seven weeks and then wearing a leg brace for some weeks after that but the doctor seems to think that this will help things considerably. I am going to audition for the music theatre course at Ballarat at the end of this year. I have already chosen the songs i am going to sing and once the monologues are released plan on learning it straight away as i know thing are going to get a little tough when i have my leg in the cast. Im enjoying the ticketing job at the Arts Centre however i am getting very little ushing shifts at the moment which is a pain as i have alot of time on my hands and would like to be working to make up for when i will be unable to when my leg is in the cast.

One thing thats on my mind is keeping in shape when i have my leg in the cast and since i dont particuarily consider myself in shape now im attempting to do something about it. I’ve started using SparkPeople again which is an online diet website that i used when i lost alot of weight when i was younger. It helps you track what you eat and how much exercise you do and since im on the computer so much i figured i don’t really have any excuse not to use it. Ive been doing Bikram yoga for the past couple of weeks but only once or twice a week. My pass at the centre has since run out and its quite expensive so i don’t think i will be able to renew it but im hoping to still go casually once a week or so. Its quite taxing on my bad foot as theres quite alot of balancing on one foot to the other that after awhile really begins to hurt. Im trying to get more motivated to use the gym in my building three times a week and swim 30 laps at least once a week. That said, being Thursday im not sure wether il fit it all in this week.

I start a new burlesque course on Monday, this one through House of Burlesque. It will be a fan dancing course and i hope its good. I really enjoyed the one i have been doing currently with Bottoms Up but haven’t found it very challenging as there was a big mix of people doing it for fun and those doing it to incorporate it into acts like i was.

Im currently listening to Regina Spektor’s new album, its quite beautiful. Im looking forward to wrting some music of my own really soon, i just feel its time. Im getting sibelius soon and hooking up my keyboard in my room as soon as i get it back from Jase.

Im thinking that once i get my tax back i will have enough to buy a motorbike. I am going to buy all my gear first, i have boots at the moment but want to get my helmet and at least a jacket and gloves before i get my bike as i get so cold easy anyway! Im aiming to get my car license by January.

Story So Far

I’ll be honest. Right now i am blogging whilst at work. Which is ok as i don’t really have anything to do at the moment.

I thought id write a little about what i am hoping to do for the rest of this year and a little about what has been happening.

I have been studying a certificate four in jazz and contemporary music this year at TAFE in Fairfield and am hoping to complete that and do a bachelor next year or go overseas. Its been going well, a little boring actually but ive got the resourses to get my theory up to scratch which is good. I have also been taking a short course in trapeze. Its an eight week course through circus oz. I do enjoy it however im thinking maybe it isn’t for me. I get quite scared when i stand up there. Im not sure if its because of how the rig is set up or if i simply don’t trust myself enough. Anywho i am kind of looking forward to finnishing the course as i am then going to begin an aerial course focussing on static trapeze, ring and tissue, which is exciting. I just don’t know who to do it through, NICA or Circus Oz. I am thinking of trying NICA since ive already done a course with Circus Oz. I am also enrolling in a burlesque course. Pretty much all the things i am exploring this year i am hoping to put towards creating a cabaret act, eventually. It will be a burlesque act. It will happen..eventually.

On Friday i was in the StarSearch Grandfinal and came second. I won $500 which i will be using to put toward the courses that i am wanting to continue doing this year. To read more about it and see some photos head to my other blog…

In June i am going for my motorbike license which is exciting and i am really hoping that i don’t fail.

I am starting to feel really quite stagnant in regards to what is happening with my singing. It would be great if i could find someone up here in Melbourne to play with as i really want to start trying to find gigs and Kym seems to be quite busy with his composition work.

On Friday it was also Jase’s birthday. I bought him a Flight of the Concords vinyl and this Friday am taking him on a little bit of a special birthday night, which i hope he doesn’t think is to corny.

Day of Silence

Today is the National Day of Silence.

Its purpose is to bring attention to anti- LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual) bullying, name calling and harrasment in schools. It began in 1996 by students in the University of Virginia. Now over 8000 middle and high schools as well as universities take part.

I went to a Christian high school and i wish that i could make them realise how important an event like this is. Although its school holidays at the moment im going to try and get in contact with them and see if i can perhaps have a talk with the kids about this.

New Beginnings

Today i had my last day at ACMI. I won’t lie, i am happy to leave. The people there were lovely but i had alot of trouble simply standing there and not really doing anything. I know alot of people would say im crazy and once upon a time i would have to, getting paid for doing nothing! But it really drove me insane by the end, im a smart girl, i like to have responsibility and to acomplish things be it on a day to day basis or weekly. Whatever, im looking forward to starting my second job at the Arts Centre in ticketing.

Currently im drinking green tea out of a mug that my Jase gave me. Its fantastic, it has pandas on it. Which i love. Very cute.

Im on day two of detox. Had a headache this morning but apart from that its been ok. Today ive eaten two things naughty, a few nuts and some fetta cheese. But i think im doing alright apart from that
